Default 1994 LT1 into 1996 Z28

I just recently purchased a 1996 z28 with no motor. (It was originally a 6spd lt1 car)

I have found a 1994 lt1 online for cheap, other than the optispark, are there any other differences in the older Lt1's?

Are you sure that's a Z28? Just curious because it doesn't have the side fender Z28 emblem.

It has rear discs, and the z28 option code on the door tag, as well as the lt1 option code, car looks to have been repainted at one time

lt1s are all the same (for camaros and birds) with the exception of the opti and the timing cover

would be a good idea to change your front cover while the motor is out. that way you get the vented opti. did you get the computer/pcm with it?

Not just the front cover to change over to the vented opti. You would also have to change your cam, the opti's are attached totally differently. Also, the 96 engine had a separate crank sensor, for OBD2 diagnostic purposes. The 94 engine will work, but the lack of a crank sensor will trip an error code.

dang i forgot about the cam. can drill it out if you dont want to change it. i would at least do the heads and pick up a little more agressive cam. but gota have bucks for that. woh them covers are spendy, 90 bucks on ebabe.

Sorry for the late reply, the engine is from a 94 caddy, I was planning to probably do a different cam, so all I would have to do is order a cam for a 96+?

The heads would be easy to change to aluminum,
Could I put in a crank sensor from a 96+ lt1?

You can use the long block from the Caddy but I think your going to need on the other parts from a Camaro LT1. All the brackets and hoses ect... It is going to be a heck of a deal on the LT1 cause now your going to have to find someone parting out a blown F body Lt1.
