So now it seems to be "fixed"...but I didn't really fix anything (I don't think)...the coolant temp sensor passed all listed tests...then, with the A/C on, the evap temp was 48 degrees (duct temp 55 degrees...the ambient temp was 85 with 60% humidity)...high side pressure at 245lbs...coolant temp at 230 degrees...#1 fan on...#2 fan off...I ran 6 oz. of refrigerant into system...high side up to 255lbs...evap temp down to 37 degrees (duct temp down to 44 degrees...coolant temp still at 230 degrees) and #2 fan turns on! I then turned off A/C and #2 fan turned off...I blocked air flow to radiator to raise coolant to 240 degrees, and #2 fan turned on (like it's supposed too)...when coolant temp dropped to 230 degrees #2 fan turned off...I turned on A/C and high side pressure moved up to 253, and #2 fan turned on...it seems to be working okay for now...before, #2 fan would not come on regardless of coolant temp or A/C status...I see that my A/C pressure was not high enough originally, but the #2 fan should still have come on when the coolant temp got high enough...go figure...I just hope it's not some ECM intermittent problem...thanks for all the help...my kid is back on the road!

did you try a dual fan relay switch cheap I had that problem it was a blown head gasket with me ,do you have an light smoke come from your pipes does the car run near hot at times, mie seemed ok at times to couse it was such small leak there was not even water in oil .but it was enough to throw off when the fan comes on an off ,you probley checked the relays an jumped it to make sure thay are working ,mine was comeing on to soon sometimes an other time not soon enough now I will be able to manually turn on the fans when the engine gets warm ,though I am now switching engines

I wouldn't worry about that too much. As long as you don't do any prolong idling, the fans usually don't kick on. Mine have come on once this summer so far and that was when I left the car idling while I was at the bank. My car also does not have A/C so the fans usually don't have a reason to kick on.
