What Cam would be best?
Alright I'm looking to cam my car. Heres the plains I have a K&N Lid stock heads and diff, headers with off-road x-pipe, MSD Coils with wires and new plugs oh ya and NOS but only about a 150-175 shot. I just want to upgrade from the stock unit but have something that would help dramatically with the other upgrades.

I run the TSP 231/237 598/598 on a 112 lobe sep. with +2 degrees built into the cam. It's an older desighn but I made 393 rwhp on motor alone and went 12.13 @ 114.7 when the car was a M6, after going with an auto and a 4000 Yank stall it went 11.80 @ 113. Any cam will require new valve springs and psuh rods, I would also reccomend doing your rod bolts so you can take advantage of the higher RPM power the cam will give you. Call TSP and tell them your mods and plans for the car they will reccomend a good grind for you.
GM Performance also makes an LS1 to LS6 conversion kit for around 1800 dollars. The kit includes an LS6 cam, LS6 heads, all associated gaskets and bolts, and valves and springs. This kit alone will allow a stock LS1 to produce over 400 hp at the wheel.
That kit is no longer available through GM performance, if your lucky you can still get a new one off of ebay, or you can buy all the pieces and parts individually. You will pay a little more but it will be well worth it.
Make sure you get new valve covers, the LS1 and LS6 valve covers are not interchangable and ussually are not included in those kinds of conversion kits. You should also get some performance push rods. Also make sure it's all 2002 or newer parts, cuz the 2001 LS6 cam is not as agressive as the newer ones.http://www.smokemup.com/tech/ls1.php
