v6 or v8

I want to buy an auto-trans2000-2002 v6 or v8 and need opinions - here's what I'm looking for:

1. High 15 second quarter mile is fast enough for me
2. 24-25 mpg in mixed driving
3. COMFORTABLE ride (I'm worried the v8 is too bumpy)
4. Reliability and longevity
5. Maintenance and repair costs.

So, is the v8 really stiff? I'm an old fart and I don't want my interior to get shaken apart from a bumpy suspension.

Can I get 24 mpg with the v8? I am a moderate lead-footer.

What about repair $$$$ ?

Thanks!

yes u can get 24mpg with the v8 i dont think the ride would be all that much differnt.
i can get as much as 30mpg with my 2002 z28 if i keep under 75 mph . it has been as low as 23mpg but i was going running at speeds of 80mph. too 115mph.
I also have buick centry with the v 6 and gets about the same mpg.
but if i had 2 pick 1 or the other it would be the camaro z28.

From an old farth to another. Get the V8 and you will feel a lot younger, a little shaking around helps the constitution. If your butt starts hurting put an extra cushion on the seat. When your back hurts you can blame it on the car instead of an old farth problem, like sciatica. Don't worry about the mileage, best to spend the money while alive than leaving it to your heirs. LOL

I was always told that: "aTRUEauto-enthusiast knows what they are because they are born that way!" So by youjust asking that question means....get the V6. You will have the vast majority of people here tell you V8 because that's what most have and would not have it any other way because we know what we are ;).

If you are looking for comfort, MPG's, repair cost, reliability,15sec's at the track.....All the things NOT associated withmuscle cars in any form, then really you should not get one.Don't take it as a diss, just being honest. Hell an Altima V6 will do 15's at the track. There are alot more better choices for what you want as priority in a car. Just my .02

ermmm.....get the V8, everytime I get into a Z28, i get out with a big smile on my face...

The V6 is great for a daily driver, and is alot of fun too. and its more reliable and gets better MPG and does look just as good. But i highly suggest getting a LS1, You will not be disapointed.

I have a 2000 V6 and i would kill for a Z28. Not really for speed, MPG or comfort. but for the sound. You turn more heads. Thats why i drive my dads!:D
But on another note, the ladiesstill dig my car and i still get coments at the gass station.

I haven't driven any late model Camaros, but I can say I am a huge fan of the LT1 after owning a Fleetwood and it makes me wonder what it would be like to have the same engine in a lighter car. I've driven both V8 and V6 Mustangs, and I can say the V6 doesn't even feel like a Mustang. The V8 is a world of difference.

in my opinion they should have never made a v6 engine for the camaro, it taints image the camaro. then we would have never had this problem. so my vote is obviously for the v8.
