Default question about the SS

Now if you feel this should be somewhere like off topic feel free to move it. Im posting this here because it pertains to the SS. Now my question is what is theFASTESTStock SS model from 1950 up until now rather its still in production or not, made by cheverlet? This is out of every ss model.

In 100% stock form the 01/02 SS's are, but this only because of tire technology.

It sort of depends on what you mean by fast. There was a factory option on the 1963 and '64 Impala SS 409 - I forget everything you got but it included the 4-speed trans, the big (for the time) 409 engine, 2 x 4 barrel cross manifold, wicked cam, etc., and headers (which today, if original OEM, are worth nealry as much as the rest of the car), and a tight rear axle ratio. These cars could do 12.9 quarter milesin completely stock form -- as delivered from the factory. I remember, at age 15, watching a new SS do a 12.9 on its stock tires and then a 12.5 on slicks, which at the time was a truly awesome time for astreet car, much less a completely factory one). The downside is these cars had something like a 4.88 rear axle ratio and would only do about 115 mph top speed, which they could just reach in the 1/4 mile: so in those terms it was among the slowest SS models ever made.
