Default New at Cams

I have 99' that I use as a daily driver and I am looking for a cam. I dont know too much about them and I just started to look at them and it seems very complicated to me and I dont even know where to start. I want a cam that I can use in daily driving and one that has a fairly noticable idle, I want to really be able to hear it like at a stop light and such. I understand that I may have to get other stuff to make the cams work but im not quite sure what all those things are. Sorry Im a noob at this and I would like some help, thanks.

Keep the valve lift @ .520" or below. Have the duration @ .050" lift @ 220 degrees intake and 230 degrees exhaust. The lobe seperation should be between 111 and 114 degrees. Pick a camshaft with these general specifications and You'll be fine.

He can go with more than .520 on the lift. Picking a cam in an LS1 is a bit different than the other SBC's. Check out Texas Speed and Futral Motorsports, they have some great LS1 specific cams.

I forgot it is an LS1, but I was considering valve spring restrictions mostly, not piston to valve clearance.

NA.. the Comp 918 springs are good for .625 lift and require no machine work to the heads. I run them on my TSP .231/.237 .598/.598, 112 cam and have taken it to 7000 rpm with no float.
