You can't chip past 1994, end of discussion.

That said, check out the "Where to start modding" sticky in the 4th Gen section, it will give you a lot of good information and answer most general questions. If you have any other more specific concerns (brands etc.) we can go from there.

The best bang for the buck is probably a nitrous system, the only problem is that the bottle gets empty pretty fast, and if you don't do it right, you can damage your engine. However; before jumping on to spray, there are some worth wile mods that are easy to do and easy on the wallet. Bolt on stuff, such as a real cold air intake, and a cat back system. They will give you a few extra horses, allow any additional mods to work better, and won't mess up driveabilty.

Ali: I think I phrased that incorrectly, I should have just said '93 is the last year that had chips...bleh...

97: With those mods you should already be running high to mid 13's. If you want 12's you're going to have to start digging into the motor a little, adding nitrous or shedding some weight.

im in uk but you guys should have some specialist tuners, with the ls1 you want a slp intake and intake manifold (ls6 are good upgrade and cheaper than aftermarket) and exhaust headers (Long tubes 3" collectors), 100 cell race cats (if they pass you stricter smog laws) into 4 inch pipe ( or twin 3 inch) with no muffler, and a EFI live re map. Over here you can see close to 390 -400 bhp at fly wheel with these. then you might want bigger throttle body, cam and heads and your looking (400 wheels with cam and 40+ more with heads. I think good for 500 bhp at fly wheel.

the re map is very inportant but it does change emissions and needs to be done right but it will make or brake a tuned package really
