how much power do they really have?
Now im talking about the last two years they were made. The 2001 and 2002 ss camaro, says they have been rated at 325 at the crank but this is under rated so imguessing 330-340hp at the crank. But bone stock how much horsepower do they have at the back wheels, does anyone know? Im about to get my 01 ss on the dyno on monday but its not stock. So im wondering what they have at the rear wheels so ill know how much ive improved with my current mods.

RE: how much power do they really have?
In my experiencethe RWHPdepends a bit on the dyno: what is important is how your car improves with mods, always taking it back to the same dyno.
A local dyno shop I've grown totrust as accurate and no BS got my stock '98 Z28 at297 RWHP on their DynoJet 240, anda couple of later year(after the 5 HP addition, etc.) Z28sat 302 and 304. Tests of SSsI saw tended to run only about 5 HP more: there is really no difference in the engine internals between the two, the SS's ram air adds no power when just sitting on a dyno, and the cat back addsonly a bit. Standard C5s tested on the same dyno do about 308-312, ZO6s about 355-360 (mine did 357 stock).
All GM's M6 LS engine cars typically have a very efficient drivetrain and so they typically lose only about 11% power from flywheel to rear wheels: in addition to comparing the dyno numbers directly to the Corvette's numbers, one can do the inverse computation on my Z28's numbers as; 297 RWHP is equivalent to 297/(1/1-.11))= 330 flywheel HP and 302 is equivalent to about 340. Either way, you conclude the cars were very underrated, probablyso the 'vette would appear to have realHP advantage over the Camaros.
