you could go with a bigger cam for a few more ponies and it would still be drivable or even just some new heads (arp or something), you could charge it and still be drivable, just thirsty. or even get it stroked. Have you done the suspension??

It depends how you define drivable, i plan a a pretty big cam in mine, as long as it idles its classed as drivable by me ! ha

you really need to investigate what you want from a cam, ive been looking for a while now about 6 months and wont get enough cash myself untill next year.

Personally the gm hot can is quite mild, i am going to go for something like 230/232 @ 0.050" with around a 0.600" lift or more. And 112 LSA. The LSA affects idle quality , think 114 is best for smoothness but 112 gives it the lumpy sound (what i want). If you get too large a duration the idle get worse also, and power will shift to the topend of the rev range, making the power unuable in a daily situation and you lose low end grunt. With the lift, as far as i know you can go crazy as long as you have the supporting mods to allow the engine to breathe and so you done make it struggle. ALso you want to get dual value springs, race type lifter, maybe bigger ratio rocker arms for extra lift, hardend push rods.

Cam and all extras, springs etc is gonna be around $1000-1200, then you need a good pcm tune

Head and cam packages are from $2600 up really.

Also I work on the car myself so NO labour, if you need to pay a garage its gonna cost more than your budget for the cam and all the extras inc fitting

ok so i decided to change the cam

i really love the sound of the ms3 and the ms4 cam

the ms3 is suppose to be more dd friendly but either way im gonna tune it

do you have any recommendation on which one i should choose based on the current mods that i have

or should i not choose either and go onto another route

im looking for mid to high range rpms

I would go with the MS3 cam with a good dyno tune from a shop that tunes LS engine cars on a day to day basis. Also valves springs are going to be a must when you swap cams. I recomend patriot golds. After that a good set of heads are going to take you a long way.

Do you have a new Y-Pipe to go with those headers & CB? If you have some change left over whip one of those in while you are at it..
