Coolant issue -- water pump?

The other day I noticed that my car was a bit hotter than norm so I opened the radiator cap to see that it was 1/2 full. I added coolant to the very top and sealed it back up. I ran the motor with the heat on for about 5 min and it was fine. I had fixed the overheating issue. This morning, I go to drive the car and I notice that its got a pretty good power loss. I also noticed that the SES light was blinking, I pull over and see that I have coolant all over my accessories, hoses, and hood. I cant really tell where the coolant is coming from.
My uncle is a mechanic and said it could be the water pump but would that cause the car to be underpowered? What would you guys think it is?
And if you need have any questions or need more info, just ask.

And just to add some light to the situation, I started the car and it holds up fine until I throttle the engine a bit and then I get a leak from under and on top of the waterpump.
I guess its the waterpump thats leaking coolant but would that still cause a problem with the car being underpowered?

i think aswell the pcm will pull timing if the engine is too hot as one of the parameters for fueling is coolant temperature. Either way you need to get a new water pump on there and check that your oil is fine and no water is in there.

Engines are more prone to misfire under load than at idle. The ticking you are hearing may be spark jumping to ground & causing the misfire. When it gets dark, open the hood and run the engine and check for sparks lighting up the engine compartment.

Alright, I'll do that after I replace the waterpump. Thanks again, fellas.
