bleeding clutch problems
 

Recently me and my dad installed a whole new clutch set up in my car. So far we've bled the clutch four times and it still acts like there is air in it. Are there any tricks or a special way that you have to bleed these babies or should I just give up and take it to the dealer to have them bleed it, and do they charge a reasonable amount.

Considering that this is my first car that is a manual I have no idea, just wanted some opinions.

Did you bleed both the master and slave cylinder? If you for some reason need to bleed the master cylinder it can be a pain in the car. It's easier to bench bleed. But if that's not an option then you are going to have to bleed it with the peddle which is very time consuming.

gonna bump this to the top again, and add some info. Me and my dad change clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel, along with all bearings and slave cylinder. Clutch worked fine for about a week. Petal started losing pressure when you pushed down, so we replaced master cylinder.

The new master cylinder never primed completely, leading my dad to believe either bad new master cylinder or an air block. We just warrantied that master cylinder for a new one.

Dad decided to bench bleed the new master this time, put the new master on and tonight we're going to bleed the whole system.

What is the proper way to bleed this system, we tried a few different ways last night but it was getting late and nothing was really working that well as no air was coming out and there was still no petal.

The way we started last night was by me pumping the petal until it felt like a good strong petal and then holding the petal to the floor while my dad cracked the bleeder.

This way didn't seem to work that effectively. I watched a few videos on youtube that said to pull the petal back once and then push all the way to the floor, then crack the bleeder and repeat.

You need to vacuum bleed the entire system. It requires a vaccum bleeder. Most if not all shops will bleed it this way.
