Bad Fuel Pump?

My 98 z28 won't start. When I turn the key, the fuel pump does not engage (no sound). I checked the fuse for the fuel pump; it's good. I'm not 100% sure where the fuel pump relay is located because the cover is missing on the fuse box under the hood. I bought a fuel pump relay and swapped each relay out in the fuse box located next to the radiator, and tried starting the car each time. No luck.

So I have two questions: Where exactly is the fuel pump relay located? I tried finding a diagram online but couldn't find one.

Is there anything else I should check before I replace the fuel pump? I just want to make sure the fuel pump is bad before I spend hundreds of dollars and hours of my time replacing it. Thank you.

The relay lives under the left foot rest on the driver side, under the carpet.

Are you sure? Because I heard in 98 they were moved to under the hood. But I may have heard wrong... I guess I'll rip up the carpet tomorrow.

Don't tear up the carpet, it is in the fuse box under the hood. My bad.

Leet, do you have an owners manual or a chiltons?

fuel pump is 126 bucks at summit. check for juice at the wiring harness back by the pump with the key on. if u are getting power there and the pump is not coming on then u need to change the pump.

Problem solved. It wasn't a bad fuel pump. I accidentally found a "shock sensor" in the trunk near the spare tire. I basically just touched it and the fuel pump turned on. I guess the shock sensor is there to shut the fuel pump off in case of an accident. It was just hanging there so it must have gotten knocked around while I was driving. I taped it to the body of the car so hopefully it won't do that again. Thanks for all of your input though.
