Default Tune-up before modding.

Alright I have searched all over but I cant seem to find answers to my question. I have a 2002 z28 m6 with less then 89k miles on it. Im looking to do hefty modding to it as I have the money. I would like to know what parts i need to upgrade/replace before doing serious modding. I'm planning a full exhaust (Long tubes/off y-pipe, slp powerflow catback, exhaust cut-out), SLP CAI,electric water pump, upgrade the suspension, and underdrive cranky pulley and performance clutch. In a few years I will be lookin to possibley turbo it (i know everyone says that) but I am lookin to keep my car for quite a long time. I would like to know what sort of intake manifold, oil pump and any other engine internals and parts i will need to look into so I can do the jump correctly and have my car be healthy and not blow up. Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

go here and pick the hp gain u want and do it. cost is reasonable and work exceptional. give lloyd elliott a call and talk to him about what u want to do. great guy.

If i go with an off-road y-pipe with no cats will my car smoke or smell bad? the 3000gt I have at one time was straight piped and it smoked and smelled very poorly. would it be the same on my z28?

u do not gain much hp by not using cats. the car is tuned for cats so u would have to have the ecm tuned for it or it would probly smoke and stink a bit.

I will prolly just get some hi-flow cats. at what point would i need to get my car tuned to have it running properly and do i have to have it tuned at a special performance shop?

best to get it dyno'd but a place like this will do a good job to.

u will want to get all your mods done and accouted for so u will have the info for the tuner. u can do them a little at a time to but saves bucks to do it once.
