i found a 1999 z28 6speed camaro on craigslsit it has 128,000 miles on it are they high mileage reliable or should i try to find low miles z28

 

I bought my 98 with 120k on it, runs like a champ. All depends on how it was taken care of.

 

I bought a 99 with 100040 on it. Had a blown rod bearing. Its the luck of the draw with a 10 year old car. I got a used motor with 44000mi on it. I have a total of $4200 in the whole car.

 

have you seen the car??

have a feel of the gearbox, see how it feels is it still tightish or slack. Is the interior worn bad, had it been abused? and look untidy? Because irrelavant of age if you keep it clean and nice it stays that way.

Take a look under the hood at the engine, does has it been sprayed clean?? sometimes garges do this to hide stuff, or does it have general dirt as you would expect. If its polished clean its probable had a good owner, everywhere will be clean and not just the spray washed look.

The big one! Look at the oil, is it reasonable full and a normal darkish colour when wiped on a white rag ( unless it has been recently changed) if its browny/black its kinda ok as long as its full BUT if its low, thick and/pr super black its prob not been changed for a while. Does it tick excessivly on idle also ??

I do mine oil change every 5000 miles the oil barly gets mucky and the engine runs strong, but only has 60K on so far.
