98 ls1 keeps popping o-ring off regulator

I just bought a 98 z28, and for some reason it keeps popping the o-ring off the fuel regulator and will cut out realllly bad when accelerating. when i put the o-ring back on the car will run perfectly for about 30 minutes even when put to the floor, and then it pops the o-ring off and cuts in and out. Any ideas at all???? My mods are New 255 fuel pump, Wet kit adj from 50-150 shot with botlte heater, headers, and some other bolt ons. The nos was on car when i bought it and is coming off. I really need some help on this one guys.

whats the fuel pressure set at?

ryans95z 11-13-2010 04:28 PM

it reads 58psi at idle

is that with the fpr unhooked? do you have an ajustable fpr? might try a oversized o ring.

no, that is with it hooked up and the o-ring on,at idle. when it comes off the fuel pressure will go down to like 40psi and be sluggish and hard to start. when the o ring is on its just fine. just cant figure out what can cause the o ring to keep coming off. could i use some silicone to hold it on?

are you sure you got the right fpr? did a quick look and the 98 seems to have a fpr only used in the 98.

what are your thoughts on silicone'ing the oring on there, or maybe hose clamping it??

ryans95z 11-13-2010 05:05 PM

ya, it was doing popping the orings, and then i bought a new fpr and its doing the same thing

ryans95z 11-13-2010 05:13 PM

do you think it would hurt anything to use silicone on the oring or just hose clamp it??

did some more looking and it looks like 98 is a transition yr and your fpr is most likely in the tank and that thing is a balancer, is there a return line hooked to it that goes back to the fuel tank? if not its not a fpr but a balancer. if you can get a clamp on it give it a try.
