Default 2002 SS Questions

Just purchased my 02 SS 35th Anniversary. I was wondering if somebody could chime in and tell me about my car. What's the motor name, best mods, why is there a Y pipe, where to buy a grill, what oil does it use, and will 05 C6 Vette rims fit without rubbing? (18" F 19" R) I wanna know the best induction, best headers, and will true dual exhaust benefit? Never owned a Chevy before so had a few questions.

I just bought my 35th LE about a month ago and its beautiful. You have a LS1 in it. There were a little more than 3000 made in america and 300 something in canada. I put synthetic in mine. A great website for the 35th LE's is 35thle.com. There are great people there who will answer all your questions about your LE. For the performance upgrades it all depends how much you are willing to sink into it. I would first get a new airlid such as a SLP. Then i would do some long tube headers, many different companies just depends how much green you have, you get what you pay for. Then a performance Y-pipe with or without cats depends where you live and how strict they are. Finally a good cat-back system, once again many to choose from, i suggest the GMMG chambered but dont get the flowmaster system, it doesn't work with the LS1. These cars werent designed for true duals but it is doable but major ground clearence is lost if you do so. Well im tired of typing so go with that and any more questions just ask.

Oh yeah as for the wheels im not sure but i think they'll fit, but i would keep the LE wheels. They fit the car perfect.

Thanks for the info, so true dual exhaust wouldnt be better than a y pipe, even if it was custom? Where can I get the grill that looks stock but has mesh inserts on the side of it?

i was going to do the true dual on mine but i had so many people telling me that the horse power difference compared to a y-pipe was so negligable and i would loose major ground clearence exspecially since im planning on dropping it about an inch. Ant way i heard the y-pipe to a 3 inch single would fhandle like 450 HP easily so i would just go with a good set of long tube headers, a performance y-pipe, and cat-back system. you could even put an electric cut out before the muffler so you can open it up at the track or on the street and make those guys with the rice burners **** on themselves.
