I heard someone say my car has a turbo and a supercharger, would this setup work and what would the numbers be?

Just some light reading about being both turbo and supercharged... It can be done, but with alot of work and money.

A supercharger like a procharger is self contained and won't dump crap into your motor if the unit has problems, a turbo will. A turbo set up has more fabrication work, i.e new exhaust, super charger you keep your exhaust. Both will make enough power to blow your motor to pieces and for a street strip car that you won't most likely be driving 100 % on race tires, low end torque in first gear isn't that important, in first you'll be more limited on traction than power. Free horsepower doesn't really matter, you can only run so much boost, either one will make 400-500 hp in a stock motor and that's plenty for a street car. If the talk is about free HP, then you'd be talking about nitrous =) not a turbo. Both are great, I have two friends that run the drag radial class, both make over 1400hp one with a blower one with a turbo, both are great. I'd call it a tie, but personally, I'd like a turbo motor on alky =)

The diesel engine used in the Dodge Ram is designed andbuilt very much stronger than the average gasoline car engine. If you were to use the boost and compressionthat is used in a modded diesel engine, your gasoline engine won't be long for this world.
If it helps to settle the argument, the worlds most powerful automotive type engines use roots type blowers. Theyare used in top fuel dragsters and fuel funny cars, and produce around 7000 HP. Of cousrse they need a rebuild every 1/4 mile, but the get ETs around 4.5 seconds, and trap speeds of over 330 MPH in 1/4 mile.

I'd go for a whipple style super charger, you get the off the line performance of a roots, but the power stays with it as it speeds up like a centrifugal. You really can't beat a good whipple/magna charger style blower.

Ha! I dunno about that... Just saw a C6 Vette getting a twin-turbo APS kit installed by Speed Inc. today, bottom end work and some other mods... from ~350 HP to ~830 HP...

I love to see those dragsters go down the track!! That may be true but street applications are a different story. I'd still go the SC rout myself. Turbos are more for ricers not muscle cars but I'm not saying I wouldn't use the turbo.
