I have recently got a 02 camaro SS with the factory installed SLP package. I am wondering what exactly does that include and what is the hp differences than a stock SS. I want to do some work to the motor but I have no idea what are some relatively inexpensive mods I could do and make any sort of difference. I am new to this forum and this kind of car I used to drive a stock Honda Civic so its like oh crap this thing is fast. I really appreciate any help. Thanks

 

The truth is that your SS is no faster than a regular Z/28. All SS cars were built by SLP, some had more options than others, but the only things thast might add power is the Lid and cat back. Other options were shocks, floor mats, Hurst shifter, hatch mat, etc. You can contact SLP and give them your VIN# and they can tell you what options your particular car has.

 

So I guess that makes since I have all of the options you mentioned. I just basically wanted to know what the differences were and is there any idea how many wheel horsepower I have. And are there any aftermarket parts that are better than the SLP. I know you might not be able to tell me because of forum rules. But a link to something like that would be helpful. Thanks

 

Dude Summit racing and JEGS will be your best friends. They have just about anything you can think of for your car. BTW welcome to the site.

 

SLP is kinda overpriced IMO, they are popular because most people have heard of them. I tend to buy more from places like Texas Speed, LG Motorsports, Speed Inc, Futrual. These are all shops that are LS1 specialists and have put in the time on developing parts that work. As for how rwhp your putting out, I would say between 300 and 310 give or take. Most 01 and 02 LS1's will dyno around 300 rwhp.
