you might be able to contact gm to check you vin number or you may have a code that says it is an anniversary on door, but dont know what to look for.

Why do you want to swap the ls1 to ls2 or ls3?

The ls1 itself so tunable as is and with a re-bore or a stoker kit you could increase the displacement anyway

the reason i want an ls2 is because i have had one in my 88 iroc-z before the one i have now and absolutely loved the way it ran and sounded and i dont want something that everyone else has i hate haven things that alot of others have and i never said i wanted to swap it i said if it was going to be cheaper then i would get on from a total gto but i dont want to do that i want to take the stock ls1 and turn it into a ls2 or 3 and honestly thanks for the advice and i will look at the pricing of doing that also if cheaper than i might go that way just dont know yet and see that why im asking yall yall know yalls 4th gens way better then me thanks again bryan

Theres not enough difference between an Ls1 and and Ls2 to tell the difference in daily driving - both run the same and feel the same until you get down to tenths at the strip. Get the LS1 and spend the money on stroker or performance parts and you'll be way ahead.
A recent (this or last year) LS3 is a different matter but only if you can get the 420-435 HP version. And its not that much better in daily driving, but 90 HP (435 minus the LS1's 345 or 350) from the factory is not something to overlook -- it would cost quite a bit to get that much in high performance parts on an LS1.

if its a 2002, its a 35th anniversary. simple as that.

not to mention it should have the 35th anniversary badge next to the radio

If you were smart and wanted to save time, you could of just looked at the title. Simple as that.

35th aniversery is any Camaro built in 2002 (35 years after 1967) they are really not worth much more then a 2001. No one would clone a “35 anniversity” Camaro because the only way to do that is to change the vin number and forge a new title with the year change. Both are federal offences not to mention the state already has a copy of the original title so you would have to some how submit a forge title to the state so it could be transferred. (there is another 2 years in jail at the state level). If someone was going to risk all that they would not do it to a 02 Camaro. You would do it to a stolen German sports car or a 69 Camaro.

Just like the long anticipated 100th anniversary Harley Davidsons, many guys were getting to the dealers years in advance to be sure they got the special anniversary model in 2003,when they finally hit the showroom floors in mid '02 every bike Harley made for the '03 model year was a 100th anniversary addition.:D
Now they are worth no more than an '02 or '04,they sold a sheet load of them too.
