want some headers
What up guys,
I have a 02 camaro ss and I want to put some long tube headers on it. The problem is I live in California and I have to smog the car. I was told that if I keep all my smog equipment I should be able to pass smog with the long tube headers. Has any body tried this set up and if so did you pass smog?
Thanks

Sick? I am going to ask you a question and it is going to sound stupid is guess where it came from is you guessed it. Don't laugh cause, I'm "StuckWiTitoo!"
Say, I keep my emissions on. Say that reads out the pipe and the sniffer has my 02 and N0x us odor. Say, we take a vacuum cleaner handle extension and stick it up the exhaust tip.
Here is the stupid question: Will the sniffer change the numbers if the vacuum hose is now a few feet back? Sea, eye told chew it was stew pit.

OP: I'm not sure about the Longtubes... Pacesetters do wonders I've heard and I do believe they pass emissions. I'd call Pacesetter and ask them if the long tubes will still pass emissions. As long as you still have all your other emissions equipment on the car, you should be just fine.
My B-inn-Law is a musician, and I call most musicians morons.
If you had a trombone and extended the tubes, did you change anything about that breath blowing the same air?
Only a moron would think you add more pipe the emissions change. Fuel is a set BTU. How did you change the BTU is already spent and now it took longer to reach atmosphere is a split second or less.
I'll make you look azz stew pit is azz stu pit does. Is man, if you could not follow the practical said two different ways is I am locked in a vacuum and cannot get out of the absolute air speed you jack in the box wit extra azzauce.

Paz, I need you to stop using words that are simple misspellings of common profanities, they are not tolerated on this board, thanks.
Second, when you put long tube headers on because it moves the O2 sensors farther away from the source and therefore it takes them longer to heat up to an operable state. This in turn makes the car run in open loop mode for longer and will effect the emissions data.
To the OP: If you have headers with all the emissions fittings and a catted Y-pipe you will be able to pass smog. Unfortunately for you long tube headers are specifically illegal in California, you cannot run them and pass your test. Even if you pass the smog test you will fail the visual inspection with long tube headers. Buy a good set of shorties, unfortunately it's as good as you can get.

Be ever so careful speaking high tech fuel injection steps or I am going to spit codes in you soup is alphabet soup tell me how to post the tech fella is you have a problem, not me. Open a FSM once inn awhile tell me how to type it out.

zNever give me a waring about anything, dude. You can wallow in the tech you have posted is we sure are having an education here is same chit wear out ever I go is not too many can grasp the basics I guess?
NOT MY FAULT EITHER!
I agree Paz, the emissions data once the car is warmed up and the O2's are at their operating temperature is not going to be altered due to long tube headers. The law that Cali passed was done before heated O2 sensors became common and it's stuck until today. In Cali they do a visual inspection as well as a "sniffer" test. If you have long tubes you immediately fail the visual inspection, this is only in Cali and NY at the current time. Where I live you have to pass a visual inspection, but they just inspect to make sure you're running a cat. (by the way, wideband O2's are from 0-5V, standard 3 wire O2 sensors are from 0-1.1V, guess this adds to a little more misinformation eh?)
Oh, and you just expended your final warning...thanks.

longtubes will trip the SEL on most cars due to faulty temperature readings. I have had this happen on my own vehicles. in california an SEL is enough to fail, not necessarily only the sniffer. Therefore you should look to midranges.
paz, ur not making sense, and you are giving bad tech using faulty logic.
stop it
