Default SLP Headers

I have a 2001 ss camaro with just a lid and slp lm catback. I want to do headers and a y-pipe but the only thing that is holding me back is these crazy stories about the installation. For starters somone told me I might have to drop the tranny and all this ****. I have a 2 post lift in my garage and all the tools in the world. I do all my performance upgrades myself except the internal ****. If i get slp long tube headers will the instalation be that much of a *****?

Installing any headers on these cars is a pain in the as- but it can be done. I have Slp headers and they where installed during a engine swap. Just remember that it is not going to be fast and easy install.

Well, I've never heard of dropping the transmission, that's a bit rediculous. I had to unbolt my motor mounts and jack the engine up a couple inches as well as remove the starter. I was able to get it all done with 2 jackstands and a floor jack, so you should be good to go as far as tools etc. The only thing that I would advise against is SLP headers, you're paying a lot for the name. I'd say go with Kooks then maybe Hooker, but the SLP headers will flow no better than a set of Hooker SC headers and they cost a lot more.

Depends on how long you are going to keep the car. Hookers will rust and SLP will not (stainless steel) your choice.

A set of Hooker Super Comps are all stainless and ceramic coated, those aren't going to rust. I would personally go for Kooks or the Dynatech system, but they do cost a bit more, but comparing the quality of my Kooks to my friends Hookers I can honestly say that it was worth the extra money.

Dynatech system? i never heard of those, do you guys know a good link of how to install the headers? I have the slp cat back so which pair of headers and y pipe would be the best fit for me?

If you get a long tube header and Y pipe system you'll probably have to chop off a bit of your cat back anyway, so pretty much anything will work. I know my Kooks came with some basic instructions on how to install them, but it's a pretty straight foreward job aside from jacking up the motor, I'm sure you can google it and find a short walk through. As far as dynatech, they make pretty high quality systems, the ones for the vettes are better because they have more room to work, but they have good build quality.
