Default new muffler or exhaust?

have a 2000 3.8L and last night we were changing the axle and carrier bearings in my car and we realized that my muffler was cracked so now i need a new muffler. i want to stick with exhaust that comes from GM but i wanted a little more sound with it so i was wondering if anyone knew if gm sells the exhaust that comes off the camaros with the Y87 package and if they do if you would be able to put them on a car that does not have the Y87 package? i was also wondering if anybody has the Y87 package if the exhaust sounds raspy when you step on it just like it does with an aftermarket exhaust system or if it sounds just like the stock exhaust. i am fine if it is a little raspy but i dont want the sound that the aftermarket exhaust systems make. if they dont sell the Y87 exhaust then i am just going to get a new stock muffler.

The Y87 performance package didn't have anything to do wwith the exhaust system except for dual muffler tips. So if your muffler is shot the rest cannot be far behind on 9 yr old car. I would go with a aftermarket catback system. Nothing special about GM's V6 exhaust except the high cost at the Dealer.

thanks for the info but do can you buy just the muffler from GM and put it on a camaro without the Y87 package cause i dont really want a new exhaust system cause i dont like any of the aftermarket systems but if cant get the Y87 muffler then i am going to get the stock one then.

Get an aftermarket single in/out muffler. Will keep it quiet but give you that little bit of sound you want.

Go for the Borla -- it is adjustable with 3 included plates to get the sound YOU want...
