Default Hooker Headers

What is the big differene between Hooker Competition Headers, and Super Comp Headers...Besides the price. Is it really worth it to get the Super comp headers on a stock/mildly built motor? Just wondering....

Design difference between Competion and Super Comp Headers is negligable. What your paying for is material. I'm OK with using $150 16 guage steel headers and painting them with PORS Hi-Heat Paint, as oppossed to shelling out $600 for 16 Guage Stainless or some Hi-Tek coating. If I had the money, I wouldn't mind stainless as they last a life time; however, if you hit road debre and damage them $600 headers and possibly another $600 of stainless exhast piping then you will more then likely replace them with the $150 Steel Headers ))

Headers with a Balance Tube and larger dia 2 1/2 " exhaust running threw a sturdy muffler like Dual FlowMasters with TAIL PIPES (Not Side Pipes) is the way to go. Again steel is OK if you sand blast the system and paint with PORs Hi-Heat Paint but then if you have the money Stainless is Maintainance Free providing you don't damage the system.

A Free Flowing Exhaust that fits under the car with adiquit ground clearance is probably the first step when preparing for Horse Power.

Actually there is a big difference. Design? Maybe not. Performance? Very likely.

On the Comp headers they essentially made the headers fit in the most accessible so that no or little mods are neccesary. Here's the catch, the primaries are not equal length. This can sometimes affect performance.

The Super Comps all have equal length or narly equal length primaries. That way all of the exhaust ports scavange equally. The catch, you may have to do some massaging to make them fit unless your car has no power options or AC.

Comps are 16 ga. Super Comps are 18 ga.

You wont be shelling out $600 for a stainless steel header that can get damaged. You'll be shelling out $600 for a steel header that is ceramic coated that will reduce heat under the hood and WILL perform better than an equal size Comp header.
