Default 99 v6 bonestock Camaro

Hey all Chris here, i own a 99 v6 bonestock Camaro and price (in some moderation) really isn't a problem but i was wondering what would be the best set up for my car to give it that rumble..i kno! its a v6 high rpms it gets raspy...i kno, im fine with that...as long as its not honda raspy. i heard the dynomax kit was good but cant really find it...and i heard the flowmaster 80 series is made for the f-body camaro's but im just not sure. Kinda looking for ppl who have it on thier cars. and also if anyone has any exhaust did anyone loose torque? cause someone i kno has a flowmaster on their car and they said they lost torque....but it could also be the chips he has in his car.

Thanks for your replies

Chris

Well I had a 97 RS (V6) and I bought it with a X exhaust straight piped with glass packs. It makes it rumble a little better, but like you said, raspy at the top RPMS. Loud as hell too. Sounded great idling and in lower RPMS.

If you want Dynomax go to www.dynomax.com. I'm putting a straight pipe system on my 1998 Z28.

I've heard from a couple guys here that Flowmaster is something to avoid, because it is a little restrictive compared to most aftermarket exhausts apparently.. but it sounds great. Either way, it's up to you.

Haha that would be sick evilkal.. Borla parts are expensive though.. damn. The whole exhaust woulda cost me 1000-1200.

Anyways cbarber, glass packs are like long cylindrical mufflers (sorta) that have packing in them. Usually cheaper, I find, then any other type of muffler. They sound sick and do a good job for performance upgrades.

As for exhaust searching try: Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Cherrybomb, Dynomax, Kooks and Hooker for starters. You could also call your local shops if you were stuck and see what they have/suggest.

It sounded great on my old V6, but everyone tells me on the LS1 it's not worth it.. the packing will go quickly and it'll be straight piped. Might as well not waste the money I was told.

I've got a 2000 v6 with flowmaster 80. I think it sounds too cool, haven't noticed any loss of torque or anything.

The magnaflow catback is probably the most popular of the aftermarket kits out there. Best way to do it is hit up you-tube and check out some sound clips, get something that appeals to you.
