Default 98 Z28, cat removal and a few other things

So, I have about 700 bucks to put in to my car. So far, looks like I'll be getting a Flowmaster catback and the Flowpac from SLP that includes the lid, bellows, and CAI. Since emissions are not at all regulated in my state, I also want to remove the cat and put a straight pipe on in place of it. To anyone who has done this before, will it give me a noticeable difference in power/fuel economy, should I expect it to pop a check engine light, and if so, are there any ways around it?

Unless your cat now is clogged/needs to be replaced you wont have any noticable gains.
