Which Lakewood bars? The type that replaces your bottom leaf spring plate, or the ones that clamp onto the leaf springs? If they're the clamp type, then that's your problem.

Do you have the clamps on that attach towards the front of the slapper bars? They wrap around the leaf spring and attach to the bar to keep the two more sandwiched together. The clamps keep the bars (and the rear axle) from torquing back down when you let off the throttle.

Are your front-mount leaf spring bushings and the rear upper & lower leaf spring/shackle mount bushings in good condition, or are they old? Are they rubber or urethane? Urethane bushings can help to tighten up the rear suspension. Not saying that's definitely it either, but sloppy, worn rubber bushings will allow the rear end to "tweak".

Thanks for your help. I'm on vacation now but, when I return I'll check it out.
