Question Space saver spare?

I'm in need of a space saver spare for my 2001 SS Camaro, can anyone tell me what all years/models will interchange? Is it '93-2002 for instance or will one from a 3rd gen also fit? I've been searching craigslist and coming up short finding one from a '98-'02 LS car specifically except really over priced ones on ebay,I would think any 4th gen V-6 car would have the same but I'd want to be sure before taking the time and money to go buy one. I seem to keep finding 3rd gen spares but they are 15" rims, not sure that would work.............help! lol

The parts manual shows the 93-96 wheel is 15x4 and the 97-02 wheel is 16x4. It makes no reference to motor size. I would think the overall diameter of the wheel and tire assembly is what's important.

Thanks,I found this out and yes it has to be the 16" for the brakes to clear on the later 4th gens . I got lucky and found a 2000 Z28 parting out on the local craigslist and got a wheel and tire that look as though they were never used ,very clean with no rust. I also got the mounting hardware as well which my car was missing,$30 for it all which was a sweet deal. ebay ads were all near if not more than $100 with shipping for just the spare tire/wheel and most were rusty dirty looking crap. I almost went the ebay route after months of trying to find one local without going to a wrecking yard and getting ripped off. I live way out in the sticks so a trip to a "you pull it" wrecking would be $20 in gas alone and they charge $2 just to go in and look for something that may or may not be there.I only go there as a last resort.

I never gave the brakes a thought, but you're right, they would be a deciding factor. Glad you were able to find what you were looking for. These cars are getting old enough now that finding parts like this are going to be a problem. A lot of these cars have been destroyed or scrapped already, so with the relatively low production numbers, availability in the future will not be like previous generations.

Many parts are already getting hard to get, especially some kinds of new parts. When I got my car (2001 SS) it had an ugly billet (BBQ) grille insert I hated and I wanted the SLP SS grille. I found that it was out of production and even used ones were scarce. I stumbled upon probably the last brand new one on the planet at Camaro Central and got it with the silver SS badges I wanted for $360 shipped. It was the last one they had so I was stoked to get it. Nice used ones are going for $500 and up now.

A previous owner had put one on the 02 I bought in 2012. I changed it back to the original and gave the SLP grille away to a friend. I'll have to let him know what it may be worth.
