Default rear end question

can you determine the rear end ratio on a non-posi rear by counting the driveshaft revelotions while turning the rear wheel one turn? i know this works with a posi track but i'm checking a 77 camaro with non-posi and the shaft only turns 1 3/4 turns with 1 wheel turn. i was told it has a 3.52 and i was trying to comfirm it. the code on the axel tube is PH which indicates it was originally a 2.56.

That's right. On an open diff you double the count, ie: 1.75 turns equates to about 3.5, or, you could get under the car and turn both wheels together.
