oil grades

is it better to use 5w-30 or 10w-30, i have a 93 lt1 with just over 140k on the engine

It depends on the enviroment you live in. If its cold go with the 5W-30 but 10W-30 has the widest range of operating temps.

yeah i use 10w-30 because it gets hot where i live but would 5w-30 be better for a lower oil psi
