OBD 1 question

My car will flash code 12 4x and then code 30 3x...There is no code 30 in the diagnostic manuel... What does this mean? I replaced my distributor cap and rotor and started the car and its runs better but now SES light on.

RE: OBD 1 question

if you are reffering to your 91, it is not OBD1, OBD1 wasnt available on Fbodies until 94.Code 12 is just saying the system is working when you scan it.Are you sure it was code 30 ?

RE: OBD 1 question

OK i will bit, How does the system blink a zero? Are you using some sort of code reader? Normally all codes including 12 are blinked 3 times. Since themanual repair system required you to count blinks to get the code there are no codes with a zero in it.

RE: OBD 1 question

rofl yeah, i never thought of that, but i know there is no code 30, and there is no single digit codes so you must have counted wrong

RE: OBD 1 question

Well after the car flashes code 12 it flashes 3x one after another... I figured the ses light flashing 3x would mean 3 and then nothing so 0.

RE: OBD 1 question

If you are talking the TBI injection in your sig then the 33 in MAP sensor error. Only the TPI had the MAF sensor.

RE: OBD 1 question

Ok I figured it out.. I have a code 32 and 33...

32Fault in barometric pressure sensor circuit OR Fault in exhaust gas recirculation valve diagnostic switch OR Fault in electronic vacuum regulator valve

What does this mean? What should I look at?

Also 33- Map sensor High voltage (low vacuum) at mass air flow sensor (or MAP sensor)

RE: OBD 1 question

If you get a repair manual for your years it will give a a step by step on how to diagnose your code. Normally the processis to check signal from the computer check resistance across sensor then with a scan tool look at what the input into the computer looks like.

IF
32 is a fault in the barmetricsensor
33 is a problem with the Map sensor
If I remember right they are the same sensor. Back in the day if I would have gotten those codes I would have just hooked up a known good Map sensor before I even started with the step by step stuff, About 70% of the time that fixed it.
