ANyone know a good place to find a new motor. Looking for the biggest block to fit a 1979 camaro. Hoping i can squeze in a 415 or 427?

biggest small block,is that what you are trying to do.i got a 454 in my 78.it takes up all the engine compartment.very few mods. to make it fit.had to change front springs and sway-bar and moto mounts,everything else pretty much fit

 

didnt the trans am's come with 6.6L 454's in that year, i dont see how it could be much different in the engine bay than a camaro should be no prob

 

yea biggest small block wit almost a stright drop in.... whered u get the 454 from and how much?

 

a 6.6 is only a 400 sbc. i believe that the formulas had 455's in them. it would fit. just prepare to modd your engine compartment.

i bought my 454 out of the sunday paper in the classified section for 600.00 complete with all the brackets.you can make a 434 out of a 400 sbc with alittle stroke and it is a bad m'fer
