I don't think the tranny mount is going to be much of an issue. The one in my 94 lastes over 100k. What breaks more often is the torque arm mount on the tranny tailshaft Regardless, you can't really drive the car with either one broken. The tailshaft of the tranny anchors the torque arm, and if the tranny is not held down, the whole thing bangs up against the floor board when you step on the gas.

The price is probably OK assuming all the mechanicals are OK. Make sure the oil is pressure is OK & no funny souds from inside the engine or transmission. If it has a posi rear, test it by placing one wheel on gravel and the other on good surface and see if you can take off without the wheel on gravel spinning too much.

I am not too keen on lowering these cars if you intend to use them as daily drivers, they have enough problems with potholes and driveway aprons with the stock set up.

its actually lowered really nicely it has an intrax kit, looks really nice.

now if it isnt the tranny mount and its what you said it was is that expensive, what will i need to order/buy etc..

well as far a running condition, besides the clunking noise from the tranny when it shifts,it runs great,it has new main bearings and so many other things and i got all the reciepts,

im mainly concerned with the tranny thing,it shifts fine it jus makes a clunking noise when getting on it.thanks for any help

If it is not the transmission mount, look at the rear axle torque arm bracket assembly. It comes intwo parts, inner and outer, get both and a new set of bolts.

I recently purchased a 94 Z28 and it runs great. I drive my cars hard and the other night while rolling on hard to race a mustang I felt a pretty hard clunk about where the tranny is. Now every time i get on it it clunks. crawled under it and the tourque arm and tranny tail mount you guys referred to look fine. Is there another tranny mount I should look for. Seems like the same problem.

Put a jack under the tailshaft and slowly jack it up and look at the transmission mount & see if it separates, do the same with the transmission end of the torque arm and check the torque arm mount. Also check the motor mounts by jacking up on the front of the engine, especially the left mount. If you let the banging around to go on, eventually something expensive is going to break.

I had the same problem with the clunking. It turned out that the tranny mount in the fron ttore in two pieces. I changed it with an energysuspension mount and the clunk was history. I have a 98 z28 with the ls1 but it might be the same im not sure. I also replaced the torque arm mount as well just because it came in the kit i bought. JUst check the mounts cause the stock mounts have a tendancy to rip in half. Enery suspensions mount is better cause of the way they made it. Its like one solid piece not two pieces of metal held by rubber.
