Ok here it is. I put new plugs and wires in my camaro last night as well as a fuel pump and distributer and rotor and then when I got in my car and turnded it on the temp gauge went up to 260 like it normally does and then went back to 100 degrees where it always starts out.
the needle did not move so I figured maybe the sensor was bad so I installed a new sensor this morning and still nothing.
When the car is running and I disconnect the wires the check engine light comes on and when I plug it back in it goes off after a few seconds.
I know it is getting some kind of signal.
What am I missing can anyone help what else could be wrong.

Ok I figured out the problem.
when installing the new spark plugs I somehow disconnected the wire to the coolant temp sending unit that is located inbetween the 1st and 3rd piston. when hooked back up everything worked as planned.
