Im new here and I havent been able to find someone to help me,I have a 96 3.8L camaro and The interior dome light in the back i cannot get to work. I checked the light and replaced it,also checked the fuse,and i still cant seem to figure out whats wrong,both were OK.

 

The wire to the light may have been cut you may have to go thru the car to find it, lines were cut back in the day so you could have the doors open and the light would not come on and attract bugs. Or maybe the light assembly is bad or has bad wiring in it you could replace it but if it still doesnt work then the wire was probably cut.

 

stupid question,do auto part stores carry the wiring or do I need to order it from somewhere,if so,where?

 

Auto parts store do have wire. Do the map lights come on?

 

No,im glad u metioned that,that was another thing,neither lights come on

 

One more question. They don't come with the dimmer switch, or just when the door opens, or both? Make that two more questions. How bout the glove box light? Looking at my Hayne's manual, the wiring diagram shows that all those are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). If glove box doesn't work, and they don't come on with dimmer switch, I would suspect the BCM being faulty.

 

no lights come on with the dimmer,map lights,dome,glove box,so you might be right about the bcm being faulty

any clue on how much it is to buy a new one? and can i get them at an auto part store

 

and no,none of the lights come on when the door opens,the only lights that work are the headlights,fog lights,guage lights,cd player,and the little light in/near the door handle on the inside

 

I just looked up the price at www.rockauto.com and it was $185. I'm not sure where all you could get one.
