Default Need help identifying an engine

Hello!

Please take a look at the pictures I'm posting here. I'm restoring this 1969 Camaro but no one can tell me which kind of engine it has on it. The VIN number is 124379N532040 and according to the cowl plate it is not a Z28 although it is painted like one.

Is it possible to determine the engine with this pictures or can you guide me on what should I look for to determine what kind of engine I have?

Thanks

Axel

Those pictures only tell it's a small block. You need to get the casting numbers and date casting off the block, near the bellhousing on the drivers side. Sometimes the date code is on the passenger side. Also you need the suffix code from the front passenger side in front of the head. You can go to this website and figure it out, or post the numbers here if you can't make sense of it.
