Lifting strength

I have one of the plates that bolts to the manifold where the carb goes. Is the intake carb bolts and holes strong enough to lift both the engine and a 700R4 trans together? ( yes, my lift is a 2 ton, and would be in the 1 ton position. ) Would like to put into car together rather than separate.

You need a lifting plate that bolts on the intake in place of the carb. Do not use the bolts used by the carb, get some grade 8 bolts long enough to engage the full length of the bolt holes. The manifold is strong enough, but you need to get plenty of thread engaged to prevent stripping the threads. You also need a leveling bar, otherwise the engine will wind up with the front pointing to the sky.

Just put a 383 in the s-10 with the motor and trans connected. My plate has three holes and I used the center one with the trans and converter on. Slipped right in and I have done several the same way.
