Default huge gauge issue... need help asap

okay, heres the scenario, i baught these white faced inlays that have blue/green gauge lights, so here it goes

Problem #1.... I poped the Gauge cluster off, took the glass off, poped the pins off and put the inlay on, poped the pins back in at zero, and i pluged the cluster back into the plug in the back of the dash and i turn the car on, and no gauges work, i tried setting them back to where they were when i took them off, and still nothing, i checked my fuses and none were blown, idk what else could be the pproblem...

Problem #2... I spliced the red and black wires that came with the gauges and the red (which i found 2 ) and the black wires that were connected to my headlight switch, i got the black on no problem, but the i connected the red one and the lights come on w/o the switch, they just stay on untill i disconnect the wires, i tried connected the red to both of the red wires i found connected to my headlight switch and i got the same problem, lights just come on and stay on without anything else being on...

i need some serious help =(

it said to connect the black to the headlight switch black wire(ground), and the red to the headlight switch red wire... but i found 2 reds... and when i connect it to either of them the lights just stay on, even when the switch is off
