Default How the heck to remove these screws?

Question guys ... need some input here on how to remove these screws. These are the screws that hold the lower hinge to the door. They are rusted on .. hv put the PB penetrating oil on .. no luck. Regular screwdriver is not doing a dayam thing. I have tried a hand impact ... still doesn't work. Drill them out?

if all else fails just drill them out and retap the holes. tapping isnt that bad at all, the drilling part is the pain in the butt. I would give it a couple days with penetrating oil.

heat is another thing you can try for problematic screws. My exhaust had a panel rusted on last spring and I had a shop heat it and loosen it for me for like 20 bucks.

Those kind of bolts I would put a phillips screwdriver socket on an air impact and the hammer action of it would usualy break them loose. Maybe since your door is off if you have a way to haul it take it to a shop and see if they will use an impact on it for you.

[:@] if these are nicely rusted they will be a ***** to remove. if youve already tried an impact driver make sure you used the proper bit (a #3 phillips i believe) heat on the backside is another option. failing these put a nut over the top and weld down the center into the screw this gives you a nice large gripping surface. this is by no means a cure all but its the best if the screw is gonna come out at all. if its just too rusted and become one with the surrounding metal the drilling or grinding of the screw head may be your only options kurt

^^^ actually, thats how the shop got mine loose, by welding peices to the bolts and cranking on them.

i still think a better use of his time is to just get a drill and retap them.

Want to thank everyone for the suggestions. Out of the 6 screws .. i have 2 off so far. Here's what i did for now. I took the end of the hand impact with the phillips head bit and put it on my air impact since both are 1/2 inch sockets. The other 4 screws still aren't coming out ... they'restarting to strip. So i'll try the heat trick and if that doesn't work then i'll try the other couple suggestions and drill them out or weld on a nut. I don't hva welder but the guy down the street does.
Thanks again ya'll. I'll let you know what works on the other 4.

Update .. got the last couple screws out by welding on a nut ... then they came out like butter. Prolly just the action of being heated up did the trick. All are out. Now I can proceed with media blasting.
