high oil pressure

How high is too high for oil pressure? I recently had the oil in my 97 z28 changed, about a month ago, and it has oil pressure of right around 60psi at start up, thats at 1000rpm where it idles right now. Then as the rpms increase it goes up a little, but does not go down until the car has warmed up. Could they have put in too much oil? it hasnt caused any problems that i know of but that seems really high to me so i wondered if maybe i should drain some oil or change it to make sure they put in the proper viscosity. After it warms up for about an hour it will drop about 10psi but it will never, and i mean never go below 40psi while running. just wondering if that could be a problem with too much oil in the crank case and if frothing and w/e else happens with too much oil could be happening.

The amount of oil has nothing to do with oil pressure as long as the oil pump can get to it. What you are seeing is a normal condition, "don't fix what ain't broke". Do not use the pressure gage as an oil level gage. Check the oil level with the dipstick.

[>:] wow nice tight sounding motor you got there. check your oil level with the dipstick and if its filled properly your good to go. overly full with oil will not cause elevated oil pressures but you dont want too much extra oil as extreme cases can cause engine damage. oil viscocity or weight 5-30,20-50 etc can have small effects on oil pressure but are mostly limited to cold engines as once warmed up they all flow readily. what weight of oil was used at the oil change?? most GM cars call for a light gas saving 5-30 if something like 20-50 or a "high mileage" oil were used id expect to see a little jump in pressure especially when cold kurt
