Hey got a question about gauges. I have a 93 Z28 and took the gauge cluster out yesterday cause my speedo is a little off and it has white gauges. What i was wondering is when you take the needles off the gauges, how do you know they're going back in the right spot? Do they just work off the pressure it takes to raise the needle? Or do they need to be in the exact spot? My fuel gauge is off too. 1/4 tank is empty! I dont know who put the white gauges in but there's nothing behind them to compare anything to. Thanks for any help

 

They need to be in the exact spot they came off at. It's big pain in the but if you don't have them on right. You can hook the gauges up and if you know where they should be with the power on, you can adjust them with the power on and you won't hurt anything. Other than that, you can send them to GM and they will recalibrate them for you. Or the easiest thing, which I did, was get a used set of gauges and trasfer the odometer.

 

Thanks man, I'm already looking at used gauges. Found out mine came with a 115 mph speedo and someone put a 150 mph face on it so its off anyway. Im gonna go for a 150 cluster and put my white gauges on it.
