Default front wheels coming off the ground

on average, how much horsepower does it take to get the front tires off the ground during a launch.leaf spring car with traction bars,275/15 street tires,3.70 posi and a 400 turbo with a bbc 454 putting out between 400-450 hp and would it do better on racing tires

its not as much hp as it is TQ and grip i have a 97 z28 and in the video and pics it looks like my front drivers side tire almost comes of the ground and i am only running 293 hp now pushing 298 TQ i am running dot drag tires but if ya really wanna do it easy just put more weight in ur trunk.. but if ur drag racing u really don't want that much lift anyways.... but if u want lift work on tiresthat grip and a good TQ number for the weight of ur car...

[&:] while it may look impressive to lift the front end off the ground its actually wasted energy in terms of launching and going fast. if the car was set up better that energy would go into getting down track not star gazing kurt

Remove your rear shocks. Yes it works, I have seen it done.

Remove the front shocks also & then you will have 4 wheels off the ground. The bad part, it will probably happen when you want to change direction. LOL

In Colorado when we get snows, most of the time there's the people that drive too fast in their SUV and sometimes they end up on the side of the road with all 4 wheels off the ground, they get to keep their shocks too!

why

Why would you want to do this????? You risk serious issues such as indirect lane change, broken front end parts, you cant see where your going and they made them with four tires for a reason.

your right ,why would you want the tires off the ground.i see it on the dirt track, modifieds coming out of the turn and get on the gas and the left front comes off the ground two foot and he is steadily going backwards.i was just wondering how hot a motor do you have to pull the front tires off the ground.these dirt cars can change thier setup to make it pull that left front, most of them do it because it looks cool.looking cool dosen't win races

The modified stock are crazy... They have all rearwheel horse power due to the fact that they do not use a transmission. They are crankshaft/flywheel to rearend. Plus they weigh next to nothing. The left front wheel is coming off the ground due to the fact that the torque of the motor is twisting the car.
