Default Dwell Meter

I am about to convert my '68 to electronic ignition...but before I do I want to read the current timing and dwell.

I have a dwell meter which I last used about 15 years ago. The manual is long gone. The meter has a black lead and a green lead.

Where do I attach these leads to get a dwell reading? across the coil??

Thanks,

Vic

My dwell meter has a red wire and black wire. Red goes to the distributor side of the coil, and black to a good ground. So I'd say your green wire goes to the coil and black to ground.
Just curious, why do you care where the dwell is set at since that info will be immaterial once you rip out the points? Or do you just want to play with it for old times sake?

Thanks Camaro 69!

To answer your question: Backup Plan.

One think I've learned working on older cars is that nothing ever goes according to plan. If all fails...I can always revert back to the current set up.

Thanks again.
