Default convertible top

hey guys , I have a question, and I hope sombody can give me an answer, I have a 69 camaro convertible, and it needs a new top , if I take it to a professional to install it it would run me between 1,000 to 1,500 dollars ( that is depending what it needs) now we all have those camaro`s parts magazine and we can order parts , they do have a listing for convertibles tops which would run me close to 200 to 400 dollars. My question is if I go the cheap way would it be easy to install or i am going to be running into problems ( this is a manual top). Thanks</P>

Ive never had a convertible but the best way to go is locate all your parts and hire it done, if possible get a warranty!!! Ive done lots of body work on my camaro and have always had luck with my own parts, no parts mark up involved. Do your homework find out how much involvement isneeded with your convertible top, find a book on replacement, talk to lost of shops, and maybe offer to give a guy some side work. Best of luck to u hop to see how it turns out!
