Default Which car to get and upgrades?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I want to make this quick too... I'm not sure which kind of Camaro to get, the z28 or ss? I've heard the ss's are faster, but I still like the looks of a 94' z28. Also, what about the 87' Irock (spelling?) z28? And what are some cheap upgrades or any other upgrades other than a supercharger or nos that I should use? Thanks for your time I appreciate it...

Default RE: Which car to get and upgrades?

well car oblivious. Thankfully for all of us camaro lovers, many many diffrent styles and shapes were made over many years. Before you can decide which camaro model you want it will help you to decide what body type and/or year you want. I don't know much about the post 81 camaros, this is when they switched to the new body types. but if you are interested in one that old i would sugest the s.s. for reasons of straight line speed. the s.s. series of chevys came out before the z28 and tends to have more punch however the z28 series of camaros (which, while very fast for the most part tend to handle better) came standard with swaybars and better brakes and shocks, thusly making much easyeer to shred turns on the back roads. now keep in mind all this pertains to 81 and earlyer camaros. As far as upgrades go there is a dazzaling array of things to do to a camaro. Supercharge, turbocharge no2, blow, bore, stroke and a whole other list of part swaps and changes you can do. i would suggest starting with a camaro with a v-8 as you have more combustion chambers to work with and a larger displacment allows for higher compression on pump gas. personally i would start at the top of the engine and work my way down. so, carb then manifold, then heads ect. forced induction (super/turbo chargers) can provide huge horsepower gains but the require alot of special preperation on older cars. no2 (nitrous oxide) is a cheap way to gain power but you risk raping you're engine. as far as cheap bolt on parts. think "more flow, more power" taller pistons will bump up compression, a bigger cam will give you longer duration and better top end than stock. or a longer crankshaft, the added displacment will make you're rpms more effective. for more info you could most likley find a speedshop in you're area that can help you squeeze you're camaro till you are afraid to touch the gas
good luck
