Camaro heating up everyday since it overheated.. PLEASE HELP

182000 miles.. no water in oil no smoke just heating up and sometimes when it heats up u can hear a knock when u hit the gas..

182000 miles.. no water in oil or opposite no smoke/steam coming from exhaust.. just heating up not overheating and running rough.. sometimes u can hear a knock when i hit the gas..

i guess u have some decisions to make. u can change the head gasket not knowing for sure if its going to help. u can change the head gasket and have the heads done and see if that does it and it may very well do it. remember with the high miles the lower end of the motor may be on its last legs and could last 100 miles or 40k miles,. u can drive it till it dies and change the motor. u can rebuild it. u can buy a rebuilt motor. u can buy a used motor. in its current state u could sell it or trade it in..;; on a 2010 i cant think of any other reason for it acting the way it is.

Yeah i think i'm going to just buy a used engine.. Thats what the mechanic told me something about the lower end is knocking.. What exactly does that mean? i'm just curious

connecting rods, they connect the piston to the crankshaft have bearings at the crank that wear out and when they do they knock. if u have ever heard someone say they threw a rod thats what they are talking about. the bearing lets lose and causes a falure at the crank and she goes apart. ussally puts the rod threw the crankcase or out the oilpan.

hahaha my brother had a pontiac back when we were in highschool... threw a rod in it and it punched a hole in the hood. never seen anything quiet like that (it was pretty cool)
