Default Bright light switch question?

I just bought a 97 camaro and the light switch on the column wont switch to brights or low lights inless your holding the column in the furthest down position it will go. Any other positions and the switch doesnt click. Any ideas of what it is?

Thanks,
First time camaro owner - Mike

sounds like a bad wire or the blinker switch is lose or broken on the inside the column.

Same thing happens in mine. The problem is that the dimmer switch needs to be adjusted in its housing. It's behind the kick panel under the steering column, and it's a serious pain to get to the mounting bolts on it. You'll see a small metal rod going into the hole of a white plastic switch. You need to loosten the mounting bolts, slide the entire switch back or forward until the rod has just a small amount of slack, then tighten the bolts again. Test it a few times before you put the dash back together.

PS. I couldn't get a wrench in there, so I just built my own little plastic extension for the rod, using a Crayola marker cap. That won't work, though, unless you've got TONS of slack in there.
