Default RE: Best Synthetic Motor Oil

I use mobil1 5w-30 too. $30 sounds good. I got a 6 pack and paid about 40 (for just the oil), that's including tax. I got an AC delco filter. Any opinions on those? I think I might go all out and get k&n next time. By the way - I ain't goin no 10000 miles before I change it again. I usually do every 3000-4000 miles, or at the change of a season (about every 6 months), whichever comes first. I know synthetic oil is meant to last a long time, but it's not just how long the oil can go before it breaks down. It gets contaminents in it after a while.

Yep, you were right Joel. I just got back from walmart. I got a 5qt jug and paid about $19.50 (before tax). Pretty awesome.

You know, I don't think I'm gonna go for the K&N oil filter... I only have 2600miles on my oil right now, but the 6 month mark is coming up later this month. I'm going to wait a little while longer to change it. But I won't let it go much over 4000m before I change. Since I'm going to be doing it that frequently, I may as well stay with the AC delco PF454 like I opted for last time.

EDIT:
PS, I have a friend who's a pretty big car enthusiast (but a ricer) and he goes 10k, even 12k miles between changes (synthetic). But he gets a new car every 2-3 years, so what does he care.

BLASPHEMY, I TELL YOU.

AFAIK, *any* full synthetic is better than the blends and regular oil any day, so take your pick -- I am using Wal Mart Super Tech Full Sythetic and Super Tech filters -- works great.

ORIGINAL: The Banks

Now I've been convinced that Mobil 1 is a good synthetic motor oil, but have seen the other brands and was wondering how they stack up.
