Another idle problem need help
I have another problem. 95 z28 6 speed. My car runs good and it is fast but it is idling at a steady 1500 rpm. I have an aftermarket BBK throttle body and I just replaced the TPS and the idle control motor. Only one of the outlets on the throttle body are plugged besides the CCV inlet. I did notice that the PCV valve is plugged on the side of the block. Does that disable the idle control motor and do I need to adjust the idle through the throttle body adjustment? I also noticed that the throttle body was not closed all of the way (there is just a little air that leaks through) Can somebody please give me an insight on what might be wrong? (the car has no ac and no heater) thanks

RE: Another idle problem need help
The throttle body should close fully at idle, and not allow any air to bypass the valves. The idle air should only come from the IAC valve, which is controlled by the PCM. Adjust the idle screw on the throttle body so the butterflies close fully but without binding. In other words, the idle screw should do the actual stopping, but has to allow the butterflies to close fully. Also check all the control cables, throttle and cruise control & make sure they are not the cause of the throttle valve hanging open.

RE: Another idle problem need help
Hello Z28Pete, Thanks for your reply. I adjusted the idle on the TB and at first it idled a little rough (because of the hot cam) but eventually warmed up to idle at 1000 RPM steady. When i pumped the throttle there was a slight miss but I am assuming that I might have to take the throttle up a little more because it was still a bit cold. Now I have two other problems that I will put in new posts.. Thanks
