Evap code on my Mustang, dont wanna go to MF..
Ok so my fiancees 94 v6 Mustang has a check engine light on, took it to autozone and they said it was the Evap purge valve and that replacing the selenoid or something like that would fix it. My question however is would this contribute to the car surging under acceleration? It even surges in cruise control. The RPMs dont jump around much but it just feels like its bucking alil. Any ideas on what possibly could cause that? Im trying to save some money and fix it up myself before I leave for Kentucky on Monday.

Even though the code states the valve, it could be anything pertaining to the evap system. Since it's supposed to be a closed system, the easiest thing to check is to make sure the gas cap is clicked on good and tight.
The evap canister (some call it a charcoal canister) takes in fumes from the gas tank when the engine is off. When the engine is started, the purge valve opens and the gas fumes are sucked into the engine.
Check your vacuum/vapor lines to and from the canister to see if any have come off, broken, gotten pinched, etc. If one of the vacuum lines leading from the canister to the engine is the cause, that could also explain the surging problem. The problem could also be a bad purge valve, but I would start with checking the easy and obvious stuff first.
