hey guys i need more help.my bro has a 93 trans-am with an lt1, we just put the msd distributor cap and rottor.it starts but you have to give it gas.it stays on a rough idle and if you give it more gas it bogs down bad then it turns off!! it has a new fule pump,fule filter good fule pressure and spark at the spark plug and at the coil.and also how dose the timming work? is it computer controled? please help! thank everyone let me know if you need more info.

 

Hate to say this, but you should have changed the whole distributor assembly. There is a lot of electronics in the housing that control the optispark and provide feedback to the PCM and ignition module. That being said, the timing is computer controlled based on information fed back by the Optispark. Make very sure that all of the plug wires are good, and that all the plugs are firing. Check all the wiring connectors between the Opti, ignition module, and PCM for internal corrosion or damagen pins. Make sure all injectors are being fired.
You should be seeing the check engine lite, if it is running as bad as you said. If the lite is lit you need to scan the PCM & see what the trouble code is. Make things much easier to fix.
